Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – 13-Week Travel Nurse Contract in Olney, MD
Operating Room Registered Nurse (OR RN) – 13-week travel nurse contract in Olney, Maryland. Seeking perioperative RNs with 2+ years of general surgery/OR experience to join a high-volume surgical team in Montgomery County, MD.
Job Details- Weekly Estimated Pay: $2,280 – $2,400
- Location: Olney, Maryland (Zip: 20832) — Montgomery County, MD travel nursing opportunity
- Contract Duration: 13 weeks (May 25, 2026 – August 24, 2026)
- Shift: Day shifts, 5x8-hour (06:45 – 15:15 or 10:45 – 19:15)
- Hours per Week: 40
- On-call: Up to 12 hours/week (Mon 7pm – Fri 7am) & 12 hours weekend (Fri 7pm – Sun 7pm); every other holiday required
- Scrubs Provided
- Active Registered Nurse license (Maryland RN or Compact)
- Minimum 2 years of recent general surgery experience in the Operating Room (perioperative/OR experience required)
- Previous travel nursing experience required
- BLS certification required
- Ability to take call as scheduled
- Comfortable circulating and/or scrubbing for a variety of surgical procedures (see list below)
- Experience with patients across the lifespan: pediatrics, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics
- Two (2) supervisor references required
- Appendectomy, cholecystectomy, colon resection, hernia repair
- Arthroscopy, total joint replacement, mastectomy
- Laminectomy/discectomy, thyroidectomy, other general surgery cases
- Circulate and/or scrub for surgical procedures in a busy operating room (7 rooms; ~25 cases/day)
- Maintain strict infection control, sterile technique, and fire safety protocols
- Accurately handle and label specimens and maintain documentation
- Participate in Universal Protocol (Time Out) and perioperative safety checks
- Respond to codes and surgical emergencies as needed
- Provide patient-centered perioperative care for diverse surgical diagnoses
- Complete orientation and required modules within one week of contract start
- Collaborate with surgeons, anesthesia, surgical techs, and interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
