Job Details- Location: Madison, WI 53792 — Travel RN assignment, Madison nursing jobs, Wisconsin travel nurse
- Setting: Cardiothoracic Surgery CVICU / Cardiac ICU
- Contract Length: 13 weeks (May 4, 2026 – August 3, 2026)
- Shifts: Nights — 3x12-hour (19:00 – 07:30), every other weekend, some holidays, no call
- Weekly Hours: 36
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $2,160 – $2,270
- Patient Population: Adults and geriatrics
- Unit Size: 27 beds, daily census ~26
- Minimum 2 years of recent acute care experience in CVICU/Cardiac ICU within the last 3 years
- Travel RN experience required (previous travel assignments preferred)
- Current WI RN license or compact RN license in hand at submission
- AHA BLS and ACLS certifications required
- NxStage CRRT (CVVH) experience required
- Experience in Cardiothoracic Surgery, VAD, transplant, and/or acuity-adaptable areas preferred
- Basic arrhythmia and telemetry competency required (must pass telemetry test prior to start)
- Epic electronic health record (EHR) charting experience required
- Trauma Level I experience required
- Flu vaccine required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Provide expert cardiac ICU nursing care for patients recovering from complex cardiothoracic surgeries, heart and lung transplants, and advanced cardiac conditions
- Manage advanced life support and mechanical circulatory support devices including CRRT (NxStage), IABP, Impella, HM3 LVAD, ECMO, and Zoll Thermoguard
- Monitor and interpret cardiac rhythms, manage telemetry, and respond to rapid changes and emergencies
- Administer medications, titrate vasoactive and cardiac drips, and manage ventilators and respiratory support
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams — respiratory therapy, IV team, PT/OT, pharmacy, social work, and physicians — to deliver coordinated, patient-centered care
- Participate in planned and emergent bedside procedures and adapt to changing patient acuity and assignments
- Provide compassionate family-centered support and education for patients and caregivers
- Float to other critical care units as needed based on staffing and patient needs
