Part-time Diagnostic Medical Sonography (DMS) Instructor

Overview:

This position serves as a classroom and laboratory instructor for the Diagnostic Medical Sonography program, responsible for planning and delivering curriculum-based instruction, assessing student learning outcomes, providing clinical oversight and mentorship, and maintaining accurate records in a safe learning environment.

Responsibilities:

1. Meets regularly with program officials to maintain current documentation of student’s clinical progress.
2. Interact with program students with a positive and professional attitude to resolve issues.
3. Maintain confidentiality in accordance with program policy and all applicable laws.
4. Participates in continuing education to improve evaluation skills and maintain professional competency in the practice of diagnostic medical sonography.
5. Facilitation of Learning. Plan, prepare, and deliver instruction; facilitate students' learning. Assess students' learning outcomes at the unit, course, and program levels.
6. Classroom Management. Fulfill assigned schedule, maintain accurate student attendance and grade records, maintain instructional environment with emphasis on safety, housekeeping, and equipment security, and ensure opportunities for student/participant evaluation.
7. Interpersonal/Team Skills. Participate in activities of the instructional team, including planning, development, scheduling, and budgeting, as a cooperative and professional team player.
8. Student Support and Guidance. Support students as a mentor and role model in achieving their learning and career goals.
9. Oversee clincial placement and students within the clinical setting.
10. Develop course syllabus and schedule

Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

• Associate's degree from an accredited college or university with 6 years of relevant experience OR bachelor's degree with 2 years of relevant experience preferred.
• Relevant experience to include occupation experience as a Diagnostic Medical Sonographer, of which at least 1 year (2,000 hours) shall be within 5 years prior to date of hire. One year (2,000 hours) of recent related occupational experience may be waived if the applicant has at least 2 years of post-secondary teaching experience in the appropriate occupational field within 5 years prior to date of hire.
