Summary: To assist in the packaging, labeling, preparation, and delivery of pharmaceutical products under the direct supervision of a licensed pharmacist and to provide technical support in all phases of drug distribution; assists with clerical and supply functions.Although work is generally light, lifting cartons of 25 to 30 pounds is not unusual

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Refills automated dispensing cabinets with bar code verification.
Identifies medications and IV solutions that have expired and segregates them from in-date
Qualifications:
- Certification as a Pharmacy Technician from a nationally accredited pharmacy technician certification program (e.g., Pharmacy Technician Certification Board [PTCB] or National Healthcareer Association [NHA]).
- Registration as a Pharmacy Technician with the New York State Board of Pharmacy preferred
- Previous training in unit dose systems and IV preparation is preferred.
- Ability to perceive differences in similarly named products.
- Finger dexterity and mechanical aptitude in operation and maintenance of unit dose machines and typing.
- Must be precise and accurate.
- Must be able to perform short cycle repetitive activities.
- Ability to occasionally lift heavy boxes (approximately 25-30 pounds).
- Exhibits an ability and attitude relative to the spirit of caring and tradition at Calvary Hospital as required by specific job duties and functions.
Education:
- High School diploma with math and science background.
- Includes accrued vacation days, sick days, holidays, and free days
