Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for a Med/Surg Telemetry position at a Level 3 Trauma and Stroke Center of Excellence, requiring at least 18 months of Med/Tele experience and comfort with regional floating.
Details- Medical/Surgical Overflow unit within a 457-bed hospital designated as a Level 3 Trauma Center, Stroke Center of Excellence, Bariatric Center of Excellence, and Chest Pain Center
- Patient population includes chronic disease, CHF, mental health, addiction services (including patients requiring extended IV antibiotics), COPD, diabetes, wound care, and geriatric care
- RN-to-patient ratio is 1:4–6 (acuity dependent); may increase to 1:7–8 during surge periods
- Required skills include cardiac rhythm interpretation, experience with non-titrating cardiac drips (Cardizem/Amiodarone), care of patients with tubes and drains, IV starts, blood product administration, and wound care
- EMR: Epic
- Department equipment includes scales, GBS machine, transfer device, vein finder, EKG, crash cart, language interpreter, telemedicine cart, and Doppler
- 12-hour night shifts, 7:00 PM–7:00 AM, 36 hours per week
- Every other weekend rotation required
- No on-call requirements
- Floating is required within Region 1, which includes Cabarrus, University City, Stanly, Lake Norman, and the Central Division (CMC Main, Mercy, and LCH — pediatrics only); floating to any facility within the region may be required as needed — do not apply if unwilling to float
- Travel time between facilities during mid-shift floats is compensated
- Active NC or compact RN license required
- Current BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
- Minimum 18 months of Med/Tele RN experience required, with most recent experience within the last year
- Epic EMR experience
- Candidate's permanent address must be at least 50 miles from the facility; local candidates are not accepted
- One professional reference dated within the past year, from a Supervisor, Manager, Director, or Charge RN, required for consideration
- Last 4 digits of SSN and full date of birth required for consideration
- Care team includes a Nurse Manager, Administrative Clinical Supervisor, Clinical Supervisor, staff RNs, CNAs, Clinical Mentor, Rapid Response RN, and House Supervisor
- Orientation includes NEO followed by 2 days of departmental orientation
- Travelers are expected to work 75% of assigned holidays
- Up to 6 days of RTO may be approved, excluding holidays; any unmet contracted hours must be made up by extending the contract end date
- Schedules are set in 6-week cycles
