Genetic Counselor - 26-04945

Job Summary:

The ideal candidate will have strong clinical knowledge, excellent communication skills, and a patient-centered approach to care.

Key Responsibilities:

• Provide genetic counseling and risk assessment for patients with hereditary cancer and genetic conditions
• Order, interpret, and communicate genetic test results to patients and healthcare providers
• Deliver psychosocial support and education to patients and families
• Collaborate with physicians and multidisciplinary teams to support patient care plans
• Serve as a consultant and resource for both patients and healthcare professionals
• Assist in high-risk patient management, prevention strategies, and oncology-related initiatives
• Maintain accurate and timely documentation using EPIC EMR system

Work Schedule:

• 4 days per week: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, Friday
• Fixed day off: Wednesday, Saturday, Sunday
• No weekend or on-call requirements

Required Qualifications:

• Master’s Degree in Genetic Counseling from an ABGC-approved training program
• Minimum 1 year of experience in genetic counseling, including:
• Cancer risk assessment
• Ordering and interpreting genetic tests
• Providing psychosocial support
• Certification:
• Valid or temporary certification through ABGC or ABMGG
• Oregon state licensure (must be obtained by start date via Oregon Health Licensing Office)
• Strong interpersonal, analytical, and communication skills

Preferred Qualifications:

• Experience working with patients at risk for hereditary cancer
• Previous outpatient clinical experience
