Description
American Traveler is seeking an experienced RN for an Emergency Department position in Wrangell, Alaska, requiring an active Alaska RN license and night shift availability.
Details- Emergency Department (ED) setting in a hospital environment
- Night shift, 12-hour shifts
- 13-week contract
- Patients of all ages, including pediatric, adult, and geriatric populations
- Requires proficiency with emergency procedures such as intubation, arterial line setup, arterial blood gas puncture, thoracentesis, and lavage
- Requires ability to operate and monitor medical equipment including defibrillators, monitors, EKG machines, ventilators, and chest tube setups
- Floating to other units required as needed
- Active, full, and unrestricted Alaska (AK) RN license required
- BLS and PALS required upon hire; ACLS must be obtained within 6 months of hire
- One year of clinical nursing experience preferred; prior ED experience preferred
- Flu vaccination required
- Two fingerprint cards required immediately upon acceptance
- Competency in recognizing and responding to emergent patient conditions and adverse signs/symptoms
- Strong oral and written communication skills, including accurate patient data entry and verbal reporting
- Coordinate and perform nursing care procedures for patients of all ages, adapting to routine and emergent situations
- Independently make clinical decisions during assigned shifts, maintaining full accountability for all actions taken
- Responsible for proper delegation and supervision of CNAs and Techs
- Carries out medical and nursing care plans in coordination with physicians and other healthcare team members
- Assists in orientation of new staff, travelers, and students
- Expected to attend and participate in at least 50% of departmental staff meetings
- Must comply with facility dress code
- ACLS, PALS, TNCC/ATCN, and NRP certifications (as applicable to specialty) must be obtained within the first 6 months and maintained bi-annually
