A client in Louisville, Kentucky is seeking a Nurse Paralegal to join their team. This role provides critical medical-legal support by analyzing clinical records, drafting medical chronologies, and assisting with expert witness coordination. The ideal candidate will bridge the gap between healthcare and law, ensuring medical nuances are communicated with precision and confidentiality to support litigation strategy.

This position is a full-time permanent opportunity offering a competitive base salary and benefits package.

salary: $74,000 - $84,000 per year

Responsibilities
  • Medical Record Analysis & Chronology: Review complex medical records to extract pertinent data and develop detailed chronologies or timelines of patient care to support legal strategies.
  • Expert Witness Coordination: Identify and vet medical experts in specialized fields, conduct background research (or "digging the dirt") on opposing experts, and manage the preparation and delivery of medical record packages for review.
  • Litigation & Deposition Support: Assist attorneys during nursing and physician depositions and participate in conference calls with experts to clarify medical terminology, drug interactions, or technical procedures.
  • In-Depth Medical Research: Conduct comprehensive research on standards of care, specific medical protocols, prescription medications, and peer-reviewed articles to validate or challenge case theories.
  • Clinical Fact-Finding & Liaison: Participate in "sentinel event" fact-finding missions and initial interviews with sued medical staff, using clinical expertise to explain the litigation process and provide professional support.
  • Interdisciplinary Collaboration: Work fluently within the EPIC system and coordinate closely with attorneys, paralegals, and support staff to manage the gathering of records and ensure seamless communication across the legal team.
