Project Manager - Commercial Electrical Construction
We are seeking an experienced Project Manager to lead commercial electrical construction projects within a self-perform electrical contractor environment specializing in healthcare, hospital, university, and institutional work.
This is a hands-on, execution-driven leadership role with full ownership of project delivery from preconstruction through closeout. The ideal candidate has a strong electrical contractor background, understands the complexities of large commercial projects, and can independently manage field operations, financial performance, schedules, and client relationships.
You will have strong internal support from estimating, BIM, and leadership teams — but direct accountability for project execution and profitability will rest with you.
Responsibilities- Lead commercial electrical construction projects from preconstruction planning through final completion
- Manage field execution by coordinating electricians, foremen, subcontractors, vendors, and internal teams
- Serve as the primary point of contact for general contractors, inspectors, clients, and project stakeholders
- Review and interpret electrical drawings, specifications, schedules, and construction contract documents
- Oversee RFIs, submittals, change orders, procurement, scheduling, and cost tracking throughout the project lifecycle
- Collaborate with estimating and preconstruction teams to ensure smooth project turnover and scope alignment
- Partner with BIM/VDC teams to ensure accurate field coordination and execution
- Monitor project profitability, identify risks early, and implement proactive solutions
- Maintain accurate project documentation and provide consistent reporting to senior leadership
- Drive project delivery while maintaining safety, quality, schedule, and client satisfaction standards
- 5+ years of commercial electrical project management experience required
- Background working for an electrical contractor is required
- GC-only or residential-only experience will not be considered
- Experience managing projects in the $3M–$15M+ range preferred
- Strong understanding of scheduling, cost control, field coordination, and change order management
- Healthcare, hospital, university, or institutional project experience strongly preferred
- Ability to read and interpret electrical drawings and specifications
- Experience with Bluebeam, Accubid, Procore, or similar construction management software preferred
- Proven ability to independently own and execute projects end-to-end with minimal oversight
- Strong leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills
- $125,000–$140,000 base salary plus bonus potential
