About the Role
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Database Administrator (DBA) to manage, secure, and optimize our growing database infrastructure. In this role, you will be responsible for ensuring the availability, integrity, and performance of our relational and non-relational database systems.You will work closely with software engineers, system architects, and security teams to build scalable, reliable data storage solutions.
Key Responsibilities
Database Management & Maintenance: Install, configure, upgrade, and maintain production, staging, and development database instances (PostgreSQL, MySQL, MS SQL Server, or Oracle).
Performance Tuning & Optimization: Monitor database performance, identify bottlenecks, optimize complex queries, rebuild indexes, and tune database configurations for maximum throughput.
Backup, Recovery & DR: Design, implement, and test automated backup and disaster recovery (DR) strategies to ensure data availability and minimal RTO/RPO.
Security & Access Control: Enforce strict access control, user permission policies, data encryption at rest/in transit, and ensure compliance with security standards (e.g., SOC 2, HIPAA, GDPR).
High Availability & Scaling: Manage database replication, clustering, auto-failover architectures, and cloud-native database services (e.g., AWS RDS/Aurora, Azure SQL, GCP Cloud SQL).
Migration & Automation: Write automated scripts (Python, Bash, PowerShell) for routine DBA tasks and lead data migration initiatives as systems scale.
Qualifications & SkillsExperience: 4+ years of hands-on database administration experience in high-availability production environments.
RDBMS Mastery: Deep knowledge of modern relational database management systems (PostgreSQL, MySQL, SQL Server, or Oracle).
SQL Proficiency: Advanced skill in writing, analyzing, and optimizing complex SQL queries and stored procedures.
Cloud Experience: Familiarity with cloud database platforms and managed services on AWS, Azure, or GCP.
Scripting: Proficiency in Bash, Python, or PowerShell for database automation and system tasks.
Problem Solving: Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and root-cause analysis skills for complex database outages or performance drops.
Preferred QualificationsExperience with NoSQL databases (MongoDB, Redis, Cassandra, DynamoDB).
Relevant industry certifications (e.g., AWS Certified Database - Specialty, PostgreSQL Certified Associate, Microsoft Certified: Azure Database Administrator).
Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (Terraform) and containerized database setups (Docker, Kubernetes).
