Proofreader
The Proofreader is responsible for reviewing written content to ensure accuracy, clarity, consistency, and adherence to style guidelines. This role focuses on correcting grammar, spelling, punctuation, formatting, and typographical errors across various types of content including marketing materials, articles, reports, and digital content.
The Proofreader works closely with writers, editors, and content teams to maintain high editorial standards and ensure all published materials are polished and professional in a fully remote environment.
This is a fully remote position; however, applicants must currently reside in the United States and be legally authorized to work in the U.S. Applications from individuals residing outside the United States will not be considered.
Key Responsibilities- Review and proofread content for grammar, spelling, punctuation, and formatting errors
- Ensure consistency in tone, style, and branding across all content
- Verify accuracy of dates, names, statistics, and references
- Check formatting and layout for clarity and readability
- Collaborate with writers and editors to resolve content issues
- Adhere to established style guides and editorial standards
- Provide constructive feedback to improve content quality
- Meet deadlines while maintaining high levels of accuracy
- Track revisions and maintain version control of documents
- Support quality assurance processes for published materials
- Bachelor's degree in English, Journalism, Communications, or related field
- 2–5 years of experience in proofreading, editing, or content quality review
- Strong knowledge of grammar, punctuation, and style conventions
- Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy
- Excellent reading comprehension and critical thinking skills
- Strong time management and organizational abilities
- Ability to work independently in a remote environment
- Familiarity with style guides such as The Chicago Manual of Style or AP Stylebook
- Experience proofreading digital, technical, or marketing content
- Familiarity with content management systems (CMS)
- Experience with editing tools such as Grammarly or Microsoft Word track changes features
- Experience in publishing, media, marketing, or corporate communications
