Summary

The Ophthalmic Clinical Technician Manager is responsible for overseeing daily clinical operations within a fast-paced ophthalmology practice. This leadership role ensures efficient workflows, high-quality patient care, and strong team performance across all clinical functions.

The Clinical Manager supervises and mentors clinical staff, supports operational improvements, and partners with physicians and leadership to drive patient satisfaction, compliance, and practice growth.

Key Responsibilities
  • Oversee daily clinical operations to ensure efficient patient flow, quality care, and optimal clinic performance
  • Supervise, mentor, and support clinical staff, including ophthalmic technicians, TCD testing technician, and surgical coordinators
  • Establish, implement, and monitor clinical workflows and protocols to improve efficiency and patient experience
  • Identify opportunities to improve practice performance, patient satisfaction, and revenue growth
  • Ensure accurate and consistent clinical documentation, patient workups, and diagnostic testing
  • Partner with physicians and leadership to align clinical operations with practice goals and strategic initiatives
  • Monitor staffing levels, scheduling, and resource allocation to support clinic demands
  • Promote a culture of accountability, teamwork, and continuous improvement
  • Ensure compliance with HIPAA, OSHA, and all applicable regulatory and safety standards
  • Oversee training, onboarding, and ongoing development of clinical team members
  • Address and resolve clinical or operational issues in a timely and professional manner
  • Support implementation of new services, technologies, and clinical initiatives
  • Collaborate with front desk, billing, and administrative teams to ensure seamless patient experience across all touchpoints
  • Participate in leadership meetings, reporting, and performance tracking as needed
Qualifications
  • Strong understanding of ophthalmic workflows, diagnostic testing, and patient care processes.
  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with patients, physicians, and staff.
  • Proficiency with electronic medical records (EMR/EHR) systems.
  • Knowledge of HIPAA, OSHA, and healthcare regulatory requirements.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adapt in a fast-paced environment.
  • Commitment to delivering exceptional patient care and service.
  • Prior experience in ophthalmology and/or optometry as a technician, preferred.
  • Familiarity with surgical coordination, premium lenses, and dry eye services, preferred.
  • Spanish speaking, preferred.
