Job Details- Assignment Length: 13 weeks (May 11, 2026 – August 10, 2026)
- Role: Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse / Telemetry RN / Stepdown Nurse
- Estimated Weekly Pay: $1,800 – $1,890
- Setting: 20-bed Telemetry PCU (Medical/Pulmonary with Renal overflow)
- Shifts: 3 x 12-hour day shifts (06:45 – 19:15), 36 hours/week
- Weekend Requirement: 6 weekend shifts per 6-week scheduling block
- Charting System: EPIC (experience required)
- Patient Ratio: 1:5 (adult and geriatric patients)
- Orientation: 24 hours
- Active RN license (Virginia or Compact State). Pending license accepted with conditions.
- Minimum 1 year recent PCU/Stepdown, Telemetry, or Med-Surg experience (preferred Travel RN experience)
- Required certifications: ACLS, BLS, NIHSS
- EPIC charting experience required
- Experience with cardiac monitoring, dysrhythmia interpretation/management, and cardiac drips (no titration)
- IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line care
- Ventilator care experience for chronic vented/trach patients (not ICU level)
- Ability to float within skillset to other PCU or Med-Surg units
- COVID-19 and influenza vaccinations required (medical/religious exemptions considered)
- Deliver high-quality, patient-centered nursing care to adult and geriatric patients with pulmonary, renal, cardiac, and other medical conditions
- Monitor and interpret telemetry/cardiac rhythms; manage dysrhythmias and administer cardiac drips (Cardizem, Heparin, Insulin, low-dose dopamine/dobutamine, Amiodarone, Nitro, Bumex, Lasix)
- Provide ventilator and trach care for chronic vented patients (up to 2 vented patients per unit)
- Perform IV therapy, phlebotomy, blood product administration, and central/peripheral line management
- Participate in rapid response and code teams as needed
- Implement isolation precautions and appropriate PPE usage
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary teams including Respiratory Therapy, Physical Therapy, Pharmacy, and Social Services
- Float to other PCU or Med-Surg units as required to support staffing
- Work at a Magnet-designated, Level I Trauma Center with strong cardiac and pulmonary programs
- Gain Telemetry and PCU clinical experience in a supportive team environment
