Description
American Traveler is hiring a RN - Surgical Specialty for a Post Surgical Unit position requiring acute care surgical floor and stepdown/PCU experience.
Details- Hospital-based Post Surgical Unit providing care to pre- and post-surgical inpatients
- Patients require care for new drains, wounds, trachs, ostomies, NGT, or DHT
- Includes some stepdown level of care patients
- Patient ratios of 5:1 for surgical patients and 3:1 for stepdown area
- Day shift schedule with 12-hour shifts, 3 days per week (36 hours/week)
- OR candidates will not be accepted for this role
- Active RN license (Oklahoma State Board or multistate compact eNLC)
- Current BLS certification issued by the American Heart Association
- Minimum of 1 year of RN experience required
- Acute care surgical floor experience required
- Stepdown/PCU experience required
- ENT and/or transplant experience preferred
- Associate's Degree in Nursing required; BSN preferred
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Provide direct nursing care to an assigned group of pre- and post-surgical patients
- Document patient responses to interventions and treatments, noting changes in physician orders
- Assist physicians with examinations and minor diagnostic procedures
- Administer medications and initiate, regulate, and monitor IV infusions and blood products
- Communicate care plans with patients and families throughout hospitalization and at discharge
- Delegate appropriate tasks to support staff
- Must reside outside a 50-mile radius of the facility to be eligible for this position
- Returning workers may only extend contracts once for a total of 26 weeks, followed by a required 6-month separation before reapplying
- Compliance documentation must be completed promptly, as start dates cannot be pushed once booked
