Digital Site Merchandising Director (Walmart.com & Amazon, Children’s Apparel)

Role Overview

We are seeking a highly strategic and execution-focused Director of Digital Site Merchandising to lead end-to-end digital merchandising excellence across Walmart.com and Amazon. This role owns the full lifecycle from optimized listings, to content uploads, to conversion optimizations.

You will be responsible for building best-in-class product detail pages (PDPs), optimizing discoverability through product titles, SEO and taxonomy, and driving conversion through compelling content and site experiences that increase units per transaction/cross sell, average order value, while lowering return rate, and fueling continuous performance improvement.

This is a critical role for a high-volume, growth-oriented business, requiring deep expertise in marketplace dynamics, digital merchandising, and operational rigor.

Key Responsibilities

Ecommerce Item Setup, Taxonomy, PDP Listings, Organic Discovery
  • Oversee all item setup and catalog management, including product taxonomy, category/browse node optimization, listing creation, listing optimization and overall retail readiness.
  • Structure product variants and listing architecture based on customer behavior, marketplace best practices, and maximized reviews.
  • Develop product titles, descriptions, benefit-driven copy, keywords, attributes, and image strategy. Develop data-driven keyword strategy for organic search and paid amplification.
  • Work with in-house creative team to develop carousel image strategy, A+ / rich media content, and video storytelling.
  • Ensure listings are fully optimized for platform algorithms and discoverability, meet platform requirements, taxonomy standards, and compliance guidelines. Ensure attribute completeness and accuracy.
  • Be the owner of specifications and SOPs across marketplace platforms.
  • Continuously test and optimize PDP performance to improve conversion rate, units per transaction, average order value, and traffic quality. Identify opportunities to improve discoverability, content performance, and merchandising.
  • Conduct A/B tests and user-testing to build solid listings that drive traffic and conversion.
Storefronts & Digital Merchandising
  • Manage and merchandise brand shops, storefronts, and landing pages across platforms.
  • Create compelling seasonal and campaign-driven experiences that reflect brand positioning and drive engagement.
  • Optimize site navigation and assortment presentation for ease of shopping.
  • Work with marketing to drive landing pages that align with paid traffic-driving initiatives.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

Partner closely with:

  • Data-entry team to ensure item set up sheets have accurate information.
  • Marketing to align on messaging, creative assets, and traffic-driving initiatives; ensure PDPs are optimized for advertising efficiency and ROAS.
  • Design to translate style details into compelling, benefit-led storytelling.
  • Forecasting & planning to deliver insights on ecommerce activity.
Performance Analytics & Optimization
  • Deliver insights and reporting that support data-driven decision making.
  • Own reporting and insights across key metrics:
  • Consumer journey
  • Traffic
  • Add to Cart/Abandon Cart
  • Conversion rate
  • Engagement rate
  • Content score / quality metrics
  • Voice of the customer
  • Establish weekly and monthly business reviews with actionable insights
Reviews & Ratings Ecosystem
  • Own the end-to-end reviews strategy, including:
  • Product seeding and sampling programs.
  • Post-purchase review generation.
  • Reviews syndication across platforms.
  • Leverage ratings and reviews to improve conversion and product insights
Team Leadership
  • Build, lead, and develop a high-performing team of 2 covering front-end digital merchandising.
  • Establish clear processes, KPIs, and accountability across the team.
  • Cultivate a team of digital experts.
Requirements
  • 10+ years experience in ecommerce with Walmart.com and/or Amazon.
  • 5+ years in digital merchandising.
  • Apparel experience a plus. Must have experience with SKU-intensive categories.
  • Proven track record of building optimized listings that drive traffic and conversion.
  • Data-driven, analytical and endlessly curious.
  • Strong data analysis and excel skills.
  • Strong understanding of:
  • SEO, keyword strategy, and taxonomy
  • PDP optimization and content strategy
  • Retail media interplay with organic performance
  • Entrepreneurial mindset with a bias for action and continuous improvement.
  • Experience with keyword tools such as Helium 10, SEM Rush, Keepa, Stackline, Jungle Scout
  • Knowledge of retailer.com platforms including Walmart Supplier One, Walmart Scintilla, Amazon Seller Central

Salary: $150,000
