Spanish Teacher (Part-Time)
Status: Part-Time (approx. 3 hours per week - Tues/Wed/Thurs)
Reports To: Elementary Program Director & School Director
Compensation:
- Instruction Rate: $30.00 – $40.00 per hour (depending on experience).
- Prep Rate: $25.00 per hour.

Job Summary
We are looking for an engaging and creative Part-Time Spanish Teacher to join our Lower Elementary program (serving children ages 6 to 9). This role is ideal for an educator who is passionate about introducing the Spanish language and Hispanic cultures to young learners through interactive and developmentally appropriate methods.
The Spanish Teacher will work closely with our Elementary team to provide consistent, high-quality language instruction that aligns with the Montessori philosophy of respect, independence, and curiosity.
Schedule & Hours
This is a focused, part-time position consisting of 3 total hours per week:
- Instruction: 2 hours of direct classroom instruction per week.
- Days: Tuesdays, Wednesdays, and Thursdays (specific afternoon blocks to be coordinated with the Program Director).
- Prep Time: 1 hour of paid preparation time per week to ensure lessons are tailored to our students' needs.
- Deliver engaging Spanish lessons to Lower Elementary students (ages 6-8) that focus on vocabulary, basic conversation, and cultural appreciation.
- Utilize "hands-on" and interactive teaching styles (songs, games, storytelling) that complement the Montessori environment.
- Collaborate with the Elementary Program Director to ensure the curriculum is integrated smoothly into the students' weekly schedule.
- Maintain a peaceful and respectful classroom atmosphere in accordance with school-wide positive discipline techniques.
- Language Proficiency: Native or near-native fluency in Spanish.
- Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required; Bachelor’s degree in Education or Spanish is preferred.
- Experience: Prior experience teaching or tutoring children, preferably in an elementary school or licensed childcare setting.
- Soft Skills: A warm, nurturing personality with a passion for world languages and cultural education.
Licensing Requirements: Ability to pass a Washington State DCYF portable background check (PBC), provide proof of MMR immunization, Negative TB test, CPR/FA & BBP.
