Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) to join our Rehabilitation Services team in an acute care hospital setting. The PTA will work under the supervision of a licensed Physical Therapist to provide high-quality care to adult patients, including those in critical care, medical-surgical, and trauma units.This role focuses on improving patient mobility, strength, and overall functional outcomes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Assist Physical Therapists in implementing individualized treatment plans
- Provide therapy services to patients in acute care, critical care, med-surg, and trauma units
- Perform therapeutic exercises, mobility training, and functional activities
- Monitor patient progress and report changes to the supervising Physical Therapist
- Ensure patient safety during all treatments and interventions
- Maintain accurate and timely documentation in compliance with hospital policies
- Educate patients and families on therapy goals and home exercise programs
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams
Required Qualifications:
- Active California PTA License
- Completion of an accredited Physical Therapist Assistant program
- BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
- Minimum 1+ year of experience in hospital-based acute care setting
- Experience working with adult patient populations
Preferred Experience:
- Experience in critical care, medical-surgical (med-surg), and trauma units
- Strong understanding of acute care rehabilitation practices
Skills & Competencies:
- Strong patient care and communication skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced hospital environment
- Team-oriented with strong collaboration skills
- Attention to detail and clinical accuracy
