Location: Falmouth, MassachusettsDuration: 13-Week Contract | 40 Hours/Week
Schedule: Rotating Evening Shift | 3:00 PM – 11:00 PMWeekend & Holiday Rotation Required
Job Summary
A reputable healthcare facility in coastal Massachusetts is seeking an experienced Medical Laboratory Technologist (MLT) – Generalist for a 13-week assignment. The ideal candidate will have strong experience across multiple laboratory disciplines, including Blood Bank/Transfusion Services, within an acute care hospital environment.
This role offers the opportunity to work with advanced laboratory technology in a collaborative, fast-paced clinical setting focused on quality patient care and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities- Perform laboratory testing in:
- Chemistry
- Hematology
- Microbiology
- Urinalysis
- Blood Bank/Transfusion Services
- Perform blood bank procedures including:
- Blood typing
- Antibody screening & identification
- Crossmatching
- Blood product preparation & dispensing
- Prepare and interpret Gram stains, acid-fast stains, mycology, and parasitology specimens
- Operate, troubleshoot, and maintain laboratory analyzers and instrumentation
- Perform quality control procedures and resolve QC issues
- Ensure accurate documentation within the Laboratory Information System (LIS)
- Prepare reagents, controls, stains, and culture media
- Support quality assurance initiatives and regulatory compliance
- Assist with inventory management and specimen processing
- Maintain compliance with safety, infection control, and confidentiality standards
- Associate’s Degree in Medical Laboratory Technology or related science field
- Completion of an accredited MLT internship program
- Current ASCP or NCA certification required
- Generalist laboratory experience with Blood Bank experience required
- Experience with laboratory analyzers, troubleshooting, and preventive maintenance
- Strong knowledge of laboratory quality control and compliance standards
- Ability to work independently in a fast-paced hospital setting
- Acute care hospital laboratory experience
- Strong transfusion medicine and immunohematology background
- Experience with automated instrumentation and LIS systems
- CAP-accredited laboratory experience preferred
