Job Details
We are seeking an experienced Structural Engineer to join our Philadelphia team. This is an excellent opportunity for a licensed PE who enjoys remaining technically involved while taking ownership of projects and mentoring junior engineers.
The Structural Engineer will lead the structural engineering design and documentation of complex building projects from conceptual design through construction administration. You will collaborate closely with architects, engineers, clients, and contractors while helping ensure projects are delivered to a high technical standard, on schedule, and within budget.
Responsibilities:
Lead structural engineering design and documentation for complex building projectsDevelop conceptual designs and evaluate appropriate structural systems
Establish structural design criteria and perform applicable building code research
Develop and manage structural work plans, schedules, and project deliverables
Perform and oversee structural analysis and design
Coordinate structural systems with architectural, mechanical, electrical, and other project disciplines
Lead and participate in project review and coordination meetings
Manage, mentor, and review the work of junior engineers and technical staff
Monitor project progress, engineering budgets, schedules, and construction cost considerations
Identify technical or project delivery issues and develop appropriate solutions
Maintain relationships with clients, contractors, and other project stakeholders
Perform site visits and provide structural engineering support throughout construction
Participate in construction administration and respond to field-related structural issues
Maintain current knowledge of structural engineering codes, standards, technology, and design practices
Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering with a Structural concentration, Architectural Engineering, or a related structural engineering disciplineActive PE or SE license required
5+ years of structural engineering experience
Strong experience designing building structures
Experience with complex commercial or institutional projects such as healthcare, hospitals, higher education, laboratories, life sciences/pharmaceutical, or sports facilities strongly preferred
Strong knowledge of local and national building codes and structural design standards
Proficiency with structural analysis and engineering software
Working knowledge of Revit and AutoCAD
Strong technical, analytical, communication, and project leadership skills
Ability to mentor junior engineers while remaining actively involved in engineering design
Candidates whose experience has been primarily limited to residential construction, transportation infrastructure, bridges, or civil/site engineering are unlikely to align with the project portfolio for this position.
