Vice President of Digital Strategy

We are seeking a strategic and inspirational leader to serve as our Vice President of Digital Strategy. This executive will lead the vision, performance, and evolution of multiple digital teams and disciplines across our agency. The ideal candidate brings a strong foundation in digital marketing, deep cross-channel expertise, and a passion for delivering measurable results.
This person must be fluent in how AI, data, and marketing strategy intersect and know how to turn those intersections into competitive advantage for clients and the agency.
Responsibilities & Success Criteria
Team Leadership & Department Vision- Lead, mentor, and manage multiple functional digital teams, ensuring they meet performance goals and evolve alongside the needs of our clients and agency.
- Oversee team staffing and structure, balancing current workload with future growth and scaling strategies
- Champion professional development, team collaboration, and innovation to ensure a high-performing, future-ready department
- Manage through change with confidence, inspiring alignment around a shared vision for the future of digital strategy and activation
- Current service lines: SEO/GEO, Paid Media/Paid Social, Business Insights, Data Science, EMA, Organic Social, CRO
- Serve as a senior strategic advisor to major clients, helping them navigate complexity, define digital transformation strategies, and unlock performance gains
- Translate evolving client needs into actionable strategy roadmaps that leverage the full spectrum of digital channels and solutions
- Represent the agency n high-stakes conversations with marketing executives, providing though leadership and strategic foresight
- Embed AI and data-driven thinking into how digital strategy is developed, communicated, and executed
- Stay ahead of marketing and martech trends, applying emerging tools like generative AI and automation to create smarter, faster, more personalized strategies
- Partner with internal teams to evolve and promote AI-enhanced solutions and capabilities for both client-facing engagements and internal operations
- Guide the organization inbuilding AI fluency, helping teams and clients understand the real world applications of intelligent tools in performance marketing
- Monitor and report on departmental KPIs, including resource utilization, team allocation, profitability, and skill development
- Build scalable workflows and processes to improve the efficiency, quality, and repeatability of strategic outputs
- Collaborate with cross-functional leaders to ensure consistent execution across disciplines regardless of budget size, client maturity, or project complexity
- Continuously improve operational practices that allow digital teams to meet performance expectations while remaining agile and cost effective
- Contribute to the agency's growth goals by participating in the pitch and proposal process as a senior strategic lead
- Partner with account and sales teams to identify, shape, and close new opportunities through strong value articulation and consultative salesmanship
- Bring a visionary perspective to positioning, working with agency leadership to develop and refine our digital value proposition and go-to-market approach
- Build strategies to maintain competitiveness by forecasting digital trends, monitoring competitor activity, and evolving our strategic offering accordingly
- 10+ years of experience in digital marketing strategy and team leadership within an agency or consulting environment, including performance reviews and growth development. Adaptable to staffing changes, including the use of supplemental or contract talent, and is committed to building teams in the most effective way to meet project and business needs
- Must possess exceptional leadership skills being able to move and inspire a cross-functional group, leading it in a unified direction and with a common vision
- Strong command of cross-channel marketing (paid media, paid social, content, data, CX, SEO, GEO, CRO) and how to integrate them into unified strategies
- Must be a critical, creative, and strategic thinker
- Proven success driving new business opportunities for an agency, with the ability to identify cross and up sell opportunities by partnering with account and sales teams and articulating our value to prospective clients
- Ability to translate data into actionable and digestible insights and strategies for clients
- Ability to manage and shift competing priorities and be pulled into challenging situations with little notice while maintaining composure and adding value
- Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to source and use AI and data to articulate a complex strategy to an audience of varying degrees of marketing knowledge and expertise
- Excels at building and retaining relationships with internal and external (client) stakeholders and negotiating ideas/strategies that are beneficial to all parties
- Possession of excellent written and oral communication skills, particularly the ability to articulate a compelling digital activation and strategy narrative
