Job Summary:

The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) / Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) provides nursing care under the direction of registered nurses and physicians in medical-surgical and ambulatory care settings. The role involves administering medications, performing clinical procedures, monitoring patient conditions, and collaborating with the healthcare team to ensure effective patient care.

The LVN/LPN must have a current Illinois practical nursing license, BLS certification, and at least two years of clinical experience in acute or ambulatory care.

Responsibilities:

  • Administer medications and treatments according to physician orders and nursing standards.
  • Perform patient assessments and monitor vital signs and clinical status.
  • Assist with patient care activities and clinical procedures within scope of practice.
  • Document nursing care and patient responses accurately in electronic medical records.
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary team members to develop and implement patient care plans.
  • Maintain compliance with facility policies, safety protocols, and regulatory requirements.
  • Float to other units or facilities as needed to meet patient care demands.

Required Skills & Certifications:

  • Graduate from an accredited Practical Nursing program and current Illinois Practical Nurse license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification.
  • Successful completion of pharmacology/medication administration coursework per Illinois Department of Financial and Professional Regulation standards.
  • Minimum of two years recent full-time clinical experience in acute care or ambulatory care settings.

Preferred Skills & Certifications:

  • Experience working in medical-surgical units or ambulatory care facilities.
  • Familiarity with electronic health record systems such as Cerner.

Special Considerations:

  • Floating to other units or facilities within the scope of practice is mandatory to meet facility needs.
  • No call requirements.
  • Strict Return to Office (RTO) policy: maximum 5 days per pay period with no more than 2 consecutive days off, no RTO on weekends or holidays, and no RTO the day before or after holidays.
  • Correctional facility environment.
  • Scrub color: Navy Blue.
  • Parking is free and available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Scheduling:

  • 36 guaranteed hours per week.
  • Every other weekend required (2 weekends per month).
  • Shift assignments may vary; floating to different units as needed.
