Pittsburgh Transportation Group – Pittsburgh, PA
Pittsburgh Transportation Group is seeking a full-time Transportation Dispatcher to support daily transportation operations and help ensure services run safely, efficiently, and on schedule. In this role, you will coordinate driver assignments, oversee vehicle movement, manage route changes, and provide operational support for shuttle and charter services.
This position is ideal for someone who works well in a fast-paced environment, communicates effectively under pressure, and enjoys coordinating logistics and transportation operations.
Schedule
Monday – Friday | 3:30 AM – 11:30 AM
Key Responsibilities of a Transportation Dispatcher:
- Coordinate daily shuttle and charter dispatch operations
- Assign drivers and vehicles to scheduled routes and services
- Monitor routes and make real-time adjustments to maintain service efficiency
- Serve as the main point of contact for drivers, providing direction and operational support throughout the shift
- Track service activity and prepare daily operational reports
- Coordinate with maintenance teams regarding vehicle availability, inspections, and repairs
- Communicate with customers regarding reservations, schedules, delays, and service updates
- Process trip bookings, schedule changes, and cancellations accurately
- Work closely with Safety and Training departments to support compliance and operational standards
- Respond promptly and professionally to service disruptions, customer concerns, or unexpected operational issues
Qualifications of a Transportation Dispatcher:
- High school diploma or equivalent required
- Previous experience in transportation dispatching, routing, logistics, or fleet operations preferred
- Strong organizational and multitasking abilities
- Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
- Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment
- Dependable, detail-oriented, and team-focused mindset
