Project Manager - Observability
Kforce's client in Chicago, IL is seeking a hands-on Technical Project Manager III to lead an observability agent upgrade and associated global configuration workstreams across cloud and on-prem environments. This role is responsible for coordinating cross-functional stakeholders (application owners, platform teams, and third-party technology partners), driving production readiness, and operationalizing a repeatable, low-risk cadence for future platform upgrades and global configuration changes.
Duties:- Independently run the observability agent upgrade: phased rollout, automated and manual validation, issue triage, rollback execution, and remediation
- Lead global configuration delivery: sequence changes by environment, define release windows, validate minimal production impact, and establish enterprise standards for configuration management
- Maintain delivery artifacts: project plans, RAID logs, dependency trackers, decision logs, runbooks, and executive reporting
- Communicate with application teams, platform engineering, operations, and executive stakeholders; prepare concise SteerCo-ready materials and surface risks early
- Deliver operational handoff: validated runbooks, acceptance criteria, automation or configuration-as-code where applicable, and a repeatable cadence for future upgrades
- Tracking & reporting (critical): own project-level reporting including weekly integrated status, operational readiness dashboards, RAID and dependency tracking, and daily status during change windows, plus 24-hour post-change validation reports
- 3+ years of technical project management experience
- Demonstrated experience leading enterprise platform or monitoring/observability upgrades
- Proven delivery across Linux, Windows, and Kubernetes environments
- Strong experience with production change and release management (patch cycles, planned restarts, controlled change windows)
