A large industrial manufacturing facility in East Tennessee is seeking a Manufacturing Mechanical Engineer to support operations and maintenance across a complex production environment. This role focuses on equipment reliability, troubleshooting, rebuilds, and capital project execution while developing into a technical equipment expert for a defined production area.
This position is well suited for an engineer who enjoys hands-on problem solving in an operating plant and wants exposure to both maintenance and project work.

Job Details
The Mechanical Engineer provides engineering support to maintenance and operations by diagnosing equipment and process issues, driving engineered solutions to root cause, and managing rebuilds and capital improvements. The role supports restoration of production flow during breakdowns and contributes to long-term reliability, safety, and quality objectives.
Key Responsibilities:
- Provide mechanical engineering support to maintenance and operations across the facility
- Troubleshoot mechanical and process issues to root cause and implement durable solutions
- Support restoration of production flow during equipment breakdowns
- Develop repair, rebuild, and preventative maintenance procedures for critical assets
- Lead or support major equipment rebuilds and upgrades
- Develop scopes, justifications, and cost estimates for capital projects
- Manage capital projects through design, installation, and commissioning
- Serve as a developing technical expert for assigned equipment and systems
- Support department safety, quality, and environmental objectives
- Collaborate with maintenance, operations, and engineering teams on reliability improvements
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering or Aerospace Engineering from an accredited institution
- Authorization to work in the United States without sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience working with industrial mechanical systems such as drives, gearing, hydraulics, pneumatics, pumps, and piping
- Exposure to manufacturing processes and operating plant environments
- Experience with product or process failure analysis
- Working knowledge of CAD tools such as AutoCAD or similar platforms
- Experience supporting capital projects or major equipment installations
- Hands-on experience designing, fabricating, installing, or modifying mechanical equipment
- Familiarity with lubrication and pumping systems
- Strong maintenance and reliability mindset
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work across disciplines in a production environment
