Description
American Traveler is seeking a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) with prior travel experience for a hybrid RRT/ECMO Specialist role in a NICU at a leading pediatric hospital in Boston, MA.
Details- Position is based in a NICU at a large academic pediatric hospital in Boston, MA
- Hybrid role combining Registered Respiratory Therapist and ECMO Specialist responsibilities
- Primarily responsible for neonatal and pediatric respiratory critical care, with ECMO support on critically ill patients; candidates will backfill as RTs when no ECMO assignment is available
- ECMO experience must be with centrifugal systems — roller pump experience alone is not sufficient
- Day shift: 7:00–19:30 and Night shift: 19:00–7:30 (3x12-hour shifts)
- Every third weekend is required
- Current RRT or RRT-NPS credential required
- BLS and PALS required
- Valid MA Respiratory Therapist license required if applicable; pending MA license is acceptable at time of booking
- Prior travel assignment experience required; first-time travelers will not be considered
- Hands-on experience with centrifugal ECMO systems (e.g., CentriMag/Mag pumps) required
- Proficiency in ECMO circuit assembly, priming, and routine management required
- Ability to respond to ECMO-related emergencies in under 10 minutes
- Preferred certifications: CES-P and E-NPEC
- Responsibilities include bedside pump management, circuit assembly and priming, circuit changes, managing centrifugal ECMO pumps (e.g., CentriMag), administering blood products and medications, drawing labs from the circuit, patient transport, and recognizing and responding to clot events
- Candidates must be comfortable with routine ECMO management and operating associated equipment
