As a Transportation Associate Leader you will be accountable for shift operations within the plant/Warehouse. This includes performance management of safety, automation, productivity, customer service, and quality. Responsibilities also include management of the daily dock schedule, staffing levels, and consistent application of contract and the Resource Manual, daily coordination with the Inventory Supervisor, Production Supervisors, and QC Supervisors as necessary to insure alignment within and across departments.

Responsibilities

Key Responsibilities:

Accountable for shift operations within the plant/Warehouse. This includes performance management of safety, automation, productivity, customer service, and quality. Responsibilities also include management of the daily dock schedule, staffing levels, and consistent application of contract and the Resource Manual, daily coordination with the Inventory Supervisor, Production Supervisors, and QC Supervisors as necessary to ensure alignment within and across departments.

Functional Areas
  • Overall productivity management of the warehouse
  • Manage automated operations including 41 automated forklifts and the computer program that operates them
  • Possess the ability to properly operate and troubleshoot all warehouse equipment, including LGVs, automated inbound conveyors, forklifts, RFs, dock levelers, and other misc. equipment
  • Accountability for hourly staffing levels
  • Sanitation responsibilities for the warehouse
  • Reconciliation of finished product and inventory management
  • KPI tracking and reporting for customer service, safety, quality, and costs
  • Facilitate troubleshooting activities for issues in the warehouse
  • Troubleshoot work activities through technical knowledge of WMS system
  • Support inventory control, lot management, equipment utilization, customer service, and scheduling activities
  • Support new product testing
  • Ensure SOPs are current and are being followed
  • Maintain multi-skills for self and for front line through proper rotation and training
  • Manage workload by coordinating all orders and unloads to meet shipping and pick-up schedules
Safety
  • Accident investigation for accidents and near misses on the shift
  • Behavioral Observation safety inspections
  • Verify employees are trained on required safety programs for the department
  • Ensure period safety meetings are attended and training is documented
  • Participate in the safety steering committee, and lead or support a program element
  • Ensure employees have been trained and are utilizing the proper PPE for the job
Quality
  • Understand QA manual decision rules as it relates to production and quality hold activities
  • Complete master sanitation requirements for the warehouse
  • Ensure held product is controlled and accounted for
  • Exceed AIB, food safety requirements for the warehouse
Customer Service
  • Meet all customer driven initiatives
  • Period and quarter end shipment reporting requirements
  • Exceed critical customer service KPI’s (Product Availability and On-Time Delivery)
  • Ensure OS&D and customer returns accuracy
Costs
  • Achieve cost management targets through LSS
  • Budget management and explanations for accounts that may be assigned
  • Completion of finished goods cycle counts and product loss
Administrative
  • Support payroll and other accounting functions
  • Management of 1^st Step grievance activities, and progressive steps as necessary
  • Ensure effective pass down meetings are conducted
  • Daily payroll, time, attendance, vacation, and labor scheduling for the warehouse employees. Coordinate overlaps and coverage needs with the warehouse supervisors.
  • Ensure consistent application of discipline, productivity standards, start-up’s, etc. across all three shifts
  • Demonstrate effective communication, motivation, and leadership skills
  • Provide training and orientation for new employees
  • Understand and enforce of the supervisors’ playbook, contract, and resource guide
  • Maintain a professional approach and appearance for work activities
  • Demonstrate excellent attendance and ability to work extra hours, and potentially change schedules to meet business needs

Compensation and Benefits:

  • The expected compensation range for this position is between $93,500 - $156,450.
  • Location, confirmed job-related skills, experience, and education will be considered in setting actual starting salary. Your recruiter can share more about the specific salary range during the hiring process.
  • Bonus based on performance and eligibility target payout is 8% of annual salary paid out annually.
  • Paid time off subject to eligibility, including paid parental leave, vacation, sick, and bereavement.

Qualifications
  • High School diploma required.
  • Bachelor diploma desired.
  • 2 + years experience in transportation, distribution and operations required.
  • Two or more years logistics distribution highly preferred.
  • Experience in manufacturing/warehouse systems preferred.
  • Experience in Oracle and Payroll desired.
  • Automation experience and string computer skills highly required
  • Demonstrate understanding of logistics supply chain systems
  • Computer literacy in Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook, and a Warehouse Management System
  • Must work and participate effectively in a team environment
  • Must possess strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to develop and maintain relationships with carriers, customers (both external and internal) and distribution operations
  • Timely and effective verbal and written communications
  • Highly self-motivated and self-managed, with excellent prioritization and organization skills
  • Ability to communicate effectively, internally and externally, to all levels of management
  • Strong leadership skills with the ability to get results through mentoring others
