• Position: Registered Nurse (RN) — Cardiac Stepdown / IMCU (Travel Nurse)
• Location: Kankakee, IL (60901)
• Setting: Acute Care — Cardiac Stepdown Unit (IMCU)
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks (4/24/2026 – 7/24/2026)
• Shift: 12-hour nights (5:00 PM – 5:30 AM)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 hours per week
• Orientation: One 12-hour shift
• Weekend/Holiday Requirements: Every other weekend and holiday

• Active Illinois Registered Nurse (RN) license in hand
• BLS and ACLS certifications required
• EPIC charting experience required (EPIC)
• Minimum 1 year recent Cardiac Stepdown / IMCU experience
• Critical care skills; ICU experience is a plus
• Strong teamwork, communication, and positive attitude
• Driver's license required for submission
• First-time travel nurses are welcome

• Provide nursing care for patients with cardiac diagnoses, including post-open heart, cardiac cath, pacemakers, tracheostomies, and other complex cardiac conditions
• Titrate drips such as Cardizem, amiodarone, nitro (for BP), insulin, heparin, and vasoactive agents (dopamine/dobutamine) with renal dosing considerations
• Monitor and interpret telemetry; collaborate with centralized tele tech for cardiac surveillance
• Utilize respiratory support equipment including CPAP, BiPAP, and HFNC
• Float to ICU (PCU-level patients) or med-surg as needed, using critical care skills
• Work with nursing assistants (1:10 ratio) for blood sugars, vitals, and ADLs
• Maintain accurate, timely documentation in EPIC
• Adhere to unit dress policy (Caribbean scrubs) and hospital standards
