POSITION: CHIEF RESIDENT ENGINEER
REPORTS TO: CONSTRUCTION QUALITY ASSURANCE MANAGER

GENERAL QUALITIES:

 •  Has excellent communication and writing skills.
 •  Possesses a thorough knowledge of construction processes.
 •  Has excellent Microsoft Word and Excel. Ability to navigate through company internet-based systems.
 •  Ability to work in adverse weather conditions. Must be physically able to perform moderately strenuous tasks which include walking along rough terrain, climbing ladders, and lifting up to 50 pounds.
 •  Proactive self-starter capable of setting a positive example for the staff.

TECHNICAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

 •  Responsible for the safe, on-time, on-budget, and high-quality delivery of projects.
 •  Provide day-to-day leadership and delivery from Pre-Construction through closeout
 •  Interact with construction contractors in performing Quality Assurance inspections.
 •  Attend, support and/or champion quality related meetings with client and contractors.
 •  Supervising construction leads personnel to multiple construction operations and may directly supervise multiple Quality Assurance Field Inspectors.
 •  Support client interaction and coordination between internal and external project stakeholders.
 •  Verify and document overall contract compliance, interpret project drawings and specifications, and provide recommendations to the client.
 •  Review and route project deliverables, including submittals, RFIs, work plans, schedules, meeting minutes, etc.
 •  Aid in coordinating contractors' work activities, chair internal and external project meetings, and actively participate in the contractor's invoice review process.
 •  Assist in project closeout activities, including processing documentation, warranties, O&Ms, punch lists, and final change management and invoicing documentation.
 •  Actively communicate project status to clients and stakeholders.
 •  Prevent delays or rework by proactively identifying and addressing issues. Provide solutions to meet client expectations.

Requirements

EDUCATIONAL /PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:

 •  Must have a minimum of 10 years of experience with major bridge/roadway/airport construction in a similar capacity within the New York metropolitan region.
 •  Professional engineer (PE) in New York State with ten years of post-registration engineering experience.
 •  8+ years of experience managing field staff on major civil engineering construction projects.
 •  Facility construction experience and knowledge of NYC building code is highly desirable.

 •  Actively participates in professional development and training and licensing.

Salary Description

$80 - $100 / Hour
