The Position

The Senior Accountant reports directly to our co-controllers. He/she is primarily responsible for the integrity of financial information which is utilized as a basis of financial reporting to the family members, generates reports and insights to inform the family’s decisions around personal expenditures, supports tax planning/preparation/filing of families individual, corporate, LP/LLC and trust returns in coordination with outside CPA firm.

Responsibilities:

 •  Primary responsibility for month‐end or quarter‐end close workpapers and journal entries for approximately 150 investment and trust entities
 •  Responsible for the day‐to‐day investment transactional accounting and reporting across multiple asset classes for all investment‐related activities including new investments, capital calls, redemptions by posting into AltaReturn
 •  Responsible for ongoing cash management of investment accounts, including daily cash review, Initiation of wire request to support investment transactions, account reconciliations and support the preparation of weekly cash management reports and monthly capital call/distribution reports
 •  Responsibility for processing all non‐investment related activities including credit cards, accounts payable and expense reporting including related journal entries and researching invoices as needed for both personal and investment accounts
 •  Experience in process domestic staff payroll and annual W‐2s a plus
 •  Handle ad hoc requests from family members and other miscellaneous recurring tasks

Skills/Experience:

 •  BA/BS degree required in accounting or finance; CPA a plus
 •  Minimum 3‐5 years’ accounting experience
 •  Extensive experience in monthly/quarterly close processes, workpaper preparation, account reconciliation and journal entry preparation
 •  Experience in investment accounting for multiple asset classes – hedge funds, private credit funds, private equity funds, real estate funds and direct investments
 •  Experience with accounts payable, expense reporting, bank reconciliations and related journal entries
 •  Experience with accounting software (preferably AltaReturn or Microsoft Dynamics GP)
 •  Experience with Bills.com preferred
 •  Experience with trusts strongly preferred
 •  Excellent verbal and written communication skills
 •  Solid problem-solving skills and solution‐focused perspective
