The Role

The Return Goods Specialist in our Indianapolis Distribution Center is a liaison between returned goods, purchasing, planning, quality, service engineering and the field-based service teams in the collection, review, disposition, and routing of returned service parts.
The key deliverables for the Return Goods Specialist include material recovery, accurate documentation, and efficient processing.

Core Shift Hours: 8:00 a.m. - 4:30 p.m.

(position may involve voluntary and mandatory overtime)

What You Will Do
 •  Administer the return goods program for service parts returned to the Distribution Center. This includes but is not limited to verify quantities of shipments received to ensure conformity to quantities listed on shipping documents; examine returned parts from customers, inspect to determine if used, damages, or acceptable. Enter Returned Material Authorization (RMA) into business systems accordingly. Verify quantity and part number; credit customer account in Oracle system if part is acceptable and transfer items to locations within the Distribution Center.
 •  Read and interpret bills of material, blueprints, and other work instruction documents to inspect incoming parts. Work with site quality resources to verify drawings and revisions. Have a working knowledge of inspection tools and methods.
 •  Interface with the traffic department in processing claims for parts that were damaged in shipment.
 •  Interface with purchasing/planning department, disposition parts not residing in Distribution Mentor or STERIS.
 •  Interface with service engineering department to ensure unidentified parts are properly identified to eliminate error.
 •  Work with service engineering and vendors to determine part replacement to make a part whole and useable.
 •  Work with distribution resources, CPO operations and TRUNK (to transfer parts from hold accounts to disposition locations. This would include packaging, labeling, scrap, inventory, or redeployment.
 •  Review Return Parts matrix with engineering and help keep the parts list current. Disposition inventory according to the list updates.
 •  Work with field on notification and follow up of requested returns.
 •  Categorically report monthly on processing activity, scrap recovery and redeployments. Maintain all records, written and electronic. Maintain and perform annual physical inventory of FS_SVCOR, FS_MRB, FS_CPO and ATO sub-inventories.
 •  Work with RGA's and field on return processing exceptions and scrap reduction guidelines.
 •  Participate in continuous improvement events, as requested.
 •  Other duties as assigned.

What You Will Need to Be Successful
 •  High School Diploma or GED required.
 •  Minimum 3 - 5 years' experience in warehousing, handling customer returns, inventory control, domestic transportation, shipping/receiving.
 •  Strong computer skills. Knowledge of MS Office applications including Excel, Outlook, and Word.
 •  Strong written and verbal communication skills required.
 •  Must be able to work with minimal supervision.
 •  Detail oriented with ability to identify items against specifications.
 •  Forklift certified.
 •  Strong Customer Service focus.
 •  Good organization skills.

Preferred Experience
 •  Oracle experience, preferred.
 •  Experience in an FDA controlled facility, desirable.
 •  Experience working in a Lean continuous improvement environment preferred.
 •  Kaizen experience a plus.

Working Conditions
 •  Work will be 50/50 split between typical warehouse management (including material handling, inventory control, shipping) and administration duties.
 •  Required lift/lower/carry 1 to 35 pounds (daily).
 •  Occasionally - lift/lower 36 to 49 pounds.
 •  Requires seeing and the ability to distinguish shape, size, distance, motion, and depth.
 •  Requires hearing and the ability to speak and communicate effectively with others in dynamic work environment.
