Senior Buyer
Our manufacturing client is seeking a Senior Buyer consultant for a long-term engagement. This Senior Buyer will be responsible for purchasing complex components and raw materials, maintaining an open line of communication with a variety of suppliers.
This hybrid position is located in Rochester Hills Michigan and will report directly to the CFO.
The day-to-day responsibilities include:
• Ensures that company standards are followed in connection with purchases of materials, MRO and services.
• Prepares and issues all purchase orders and requisitions for Capital Equipment and Customer tooling builds.
• Analyze plant Commodity spending to secure price advantages of quantity buying. Composes and edits specifications, solicits formal and informal bids in accordance with standard procedures.
• Analyzes plant outside subcontract services, working with Plant Engineering to secure price advantages and looking for opportunities to bring processes back into the Plants.
• Negotiates and maintains all Steel Vendor contract and spot buy purchases.
• Works with Engineering and Cost Estimating on Customer quotes.
• Monthly analysis and review of PPV and other spending.
• Resolves vendor quality issues and tracks and documents results and vendor performance. Initiates quality programs that benefit vendor relationships while improving the quality for customers.
• Various other tasks as assigned by CFO
The ideal candidate will have the following skill sets:
• Strong Analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Extensive Plant Variance analysis experience.
• Detail – Oriented with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet tight deadlines.
• Strong communications skills with the ability to effectively influence others at various levels of the organization, including the CEO.
• Ability to work independently and multi – task in a fast-paced environment.
• Willingness to work in-office alongside plant personnel and travel to headquarters and plant locations as needed.
• Strong Knowledge of ERP systems.
• 5-7 years of buying experience
• BA/BS in supply chain or related field
