Preconstruction Architect/Estimator
Job Overview
This position is intended for a person with an architectural background looking to work for a commercial general contractor to assist in various pre-construction and pre-development activities, including the creation of detailed proposals and detailed construction estimates from preliminary / conceptual information.
The Pre-Construction Architect / Commercial Construction Estimator is a full time exempt position. The ideal candidate is detail orientated with a demonstrated ability to work with numbers, drawings, multitask and prioritize as well as strong organization and communication skills.
This person will be responsible for developing accurate and reliable estimates for multiple, simultaneous projects from conceptual design through final construction documents.
• Understands project plans and specifications and has the ability to develop conceptual plan designs and renderings
• Understands the various components that go into the construction of a building and be able to pull all those components together from preliminary information
• Strong conceptual estimating skills
• Performs code review studies
• Ability to independently develop complete estimates from preliminary floor plans
• Work directly with clients to define their program
• Develops and manages estimates on multiple, simultaneous projects
• Works closely with Management Team in the project development phase to ensure accurate estimates and assumptions meet project requirements
• Works with clients and design teams closely to further develop the project
• Coordinates the completion of all client deliverables for estimates to insure consistency
• Identifies appropriate trade contractors in order to develop budgets and bids
• Proficient in all trade scope review and identifying potential concerns/issues on projects
• Demonstrates the ability to encourage personal and professional development in team members.
• Demonstrates a positive attitude and professionalism
Core Requirements
• Background in Architecture and Commercial Building Construction
• Detail orientated with strong leadership, communication, problem solving, initiative and team building skills.
• Knowledgeable in architecture, construction and estimating software as well as windows applications including Sketch Up, AutoCad, and Bluebeam
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office
• 5 years of experience in Architecture and/or Commercial Construction Industry
• Demonstrable experience in roles of increasing responsibility in Architecture and/or Commercial Construction estimating
