Overview:

Senior Controls Designer Responsibilities

The Senior Controls Designer is responsible for:

 •  Designing building automation control systems.
 •  Creating System Architecture.
 •  Developing Wiring Diagrams.
 •  Preparing Materials Specifications.
 •  Compiling Submittals.
 •  Generating Bill of Materials.
 •  Interacting frequently with clients, contractors, and engineers.
 •  Fulfilling the essential duties and responsibilities of the position.

Responsibilities:

Senior Controls Designer Duties

The duties of the Senior Controls Designer include:

 •  Design and Pre-Construction:
 •  Conducting field surveys to identify existing equipment types and building automation system capabilities.
 •  Producing design documents including drawings, system architecture, and wiring diagrams.
 •  Producing Submittals for review and approval by Engineer of Record.
 •  Preparing Bill of Materials for Controls Installation project.
 •  Other:
 •  Upholding Bernhard’s owner advocacy philosophy, mission, and core values.
 •  Performing assigned duties with minimal supervision, while working in a team problem-solving environment.
 •  Assisting with the development of technical reports or related documents.
 •  Performing other duties as assigned or required.

Qualifications:

Senior Controls Designer Requirements

The requirements for a Senior Controls Designer include:

 •  Bachelor of Science in Engineering and 5-7 years’ experience or 7-10 years engineering experience.
 •  Strong communication skills required.
 •  Analytical and problem-solving skills.
 •  Proficient in AutoCAD.
 •  Proficient in Microsoft Office products including Word, Excel.
 •  Effective verbal and written communication skills.
 •  Detail-oriented and willing to tackle various ongoing projects in a fast-paced environment.
 •  Versed in the industry and the Company’s competitors.
 •  Ability to multitask and perform duties outside of the scope of work when necessary.
