We are hiring immediately for aCAFE MANAGERposition.
• Location: MIT, 500 Memorial Dr, Cambridge, MA 02139.Note: online applications acceptedonly.
• Schedule: Full Time;Rotating including weekends and nights. Mostly evenings including some weekends.
• Details:This position will support residential dining and will manage 20or more employees.Key Responsibilities:
• Takes ownership of the operation and ensures operation meets all timelines for service and all other timelines established by management and/or client
• Manages all aspects of location payroll, safety, and marketing
• Interacts professionally with a diverse group of associates, peers, managers, suppliers, clients, and customers
• Demonstrates initiative and good judgment in assisting customers, clients, peers, and subordinates
• Conducts house meetings as needed
• Evaluates problems, and make appropriate recommendations
• Audits units to ensure conformance with the Company, government, and accrediting agency standards, regulations, and codes regarding food storage, preparation, sanitation, and record keeping
• Requirement:Experience working in a union environment is highly preferred.Food service operation supervision experience. General culinary knowledge of basic kitchen practices, protocols, and procedures.
• Salary: 75,000

Job Summary
This individual will be responsible for the supervision of the food service operation, ensuring the standards of excellence are met. They will supervise associates and support financial responsibilities.
Key Responsibilities:
• Hires, supervises, trains, and coaches associates.
• Plans, markets and executes special events/promotions in the cafe
• Ensures compliance with proper sanitation and cleaning standards
• Operates within the budget and identifies new ways to improve the business
• Manages cafe operations
• Performs other duties as assigned
Qualifications:
• Bachelor's Degree
• At least 1:3 years of relevant experience
• Experience in restaurants, hotels, corporate dining, education, military, health care, and/or related food service operations
• Operational knowledge of cash handling procedures and food service equipment
• Proficient computer skills and knowledge of MS Office products, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, and internet
• ServSafe or Department of Health Certification is preferred
