Government Controller - Salary up to $170K

My client is a leading government contractor specializing in defense. They pride themselves on delivering high-quality solutions while maintaining the highest standards of integrity and compliance.
They are currently seeking a Controller, that will own the day-to-day responsibilities for their accounting team. You will play a crucial role in overseeing financial operations and ensuring compliance with government contracting regulations.
You will be responsible for managing the accounting team and providing strategic financial guidance to senior management. Your expertise in Deltek Costpoint will be helpful in optimizing our financial systems and processes.

Responsibilities: 1. Oversee all aspects of the accounting department, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, general ledger, and payroll. 2. Manage month-end and year-end close processes, ensuring accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting.
3. Develop and maintain internal controls to safeguard company assets and ensure compliance with government regulations, including DCAA and FAR. 4. Prepare and analyze financial statements, budgets, forecasts, and variance reports for senior management.
5. Coordinate with external auditors during annual audits and assist in the resolution of audit findings. 6. Lead the implementation and optimization of Deltek Costpoint modules to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting. 7. Provide financial analysis and guidance to support decision-making and strategic planning initiatives.
8. Stay current on changes in government contracting regulations and ensure company compliance. 9. Collaborate with other departments to streamline processes and improve overall business performance. 10. Mentor and develop accounting staff, fostering a culture of continuous learning and detail oriented growth.
Qualifications: 1. Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field. CPA or CMA certification preferred. 2. Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in accounting. 3. Thorough understanding of government contracting regulations, including DCAA, FAR, and CAS.
4. Proficiency in Deltek Costpoint and other financial software systems. 5. Strong analytical skills and attention to detail. 6. Proven leadership ability and experience managing a team.
