Equipment Repair Technician II

Position Summary

This position is responsible for disassembly, testing, trouble shooting, diagnostics, refurbishing, and reassembling of components, devices, and medical equipment. The Technician has been cross trained and demonstrated efficiency with various products and repairs and/or has experience to perform all duties and repairs as an Equipment Repair Technician I, as well as stainless steel rework and painting.
The Technician will do this work independently and in teams supporting each other to meet Customer orders and quality standards. The Technician will use a variety of hand tools, diagnostic devices, electro-mechanical, and hydraulic competencies in order to do their work in a safe and efficient manner.
The Technician will also be back up to other production based positions in the facility including material handling and shipping/receiving.

Duties
 •  Perform advanced troubleshooting, repairs, preventative and corrective maintenance on STERIS and competitive equipment and components in a safe and efficient manner. This includes: disassembling, replacing, or repairing defective parts; rewiring or reassembling as required; troubleshooting, adjusting/calibrating, and certifying equipment ready for use by using standard and specialized tools and test equipment (i.e., schematics, diagrams, technical manuals, etc.). Includes current and building knowledge of the functions of major component parts and sub-assemblies.
 •  Evaluate the safety, efficiency, and effectiveness of equipment.
 •  Perform independently and within teams: repairs to electrical and hydraulic components, refinishing of metal and plastic parts, and wipe down, tape and prep equipment for painting/polish.
 •  Use and understand torque wrenches, test equipment, and trouble shoot. Sound working knowledge of all related test equipment and its purposes.
 •  Pursues training and development opportunities; strives to continuously build knowledge and skills. Shares knowledge and expertise with others; Trains, mentors, and transfers knowledge to others.
 •  Maintain and perform published productivity standards on moderately challenging assemblies by utilizing a work instruction, prints, schematics, and standard work.
 •  Maintain and perform high quality standards (meet the departments published quality standards and overall Customer satisfaction standards).
 •  Maintain safe work areas and perform safe work habits in accordance to all safety regulations, audits, and actively holds self and teammates accountable to safe working conditions including all needed and/or required personal protective equipment (PPE).
 •  Apply and perform to 5S programs and act with a LEAN mindset to work.
 •  Perform to all policies, procedures and STERIS values as trained and communicated.
 •  Other duties as assigned.

Required Experience
 •  High School Diploma or GED.
 •  Minimum of 3 years related experience (e.g. mechanical, electrical, electromechanical, hydraulics, plumbing, HVAC, and/or automotive diagnosis or repair). *Associates degree or related certifications in technical/mechanical area, competitive equipment training or related military experience may be considered towards technical experience requirement.
 •  Experience working in a Customer focused environment.
 •  Demonstrated attention to detail.
 •  Effective written and verbal communication skills. Must be able to read and write details about each repair including basic organizational and troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
 •  Proven ability to take direction, to listen, learn, and work in a team environment.
 •  Understanding of and willingness to adhere to STERIS Values and support our Mission and Vision.
 •  Willing to work overtime and weekends, flexible shifts as needed.
