Performance Trailers, founded in 1991, has established a reputation as a leader in the design and construction of custom trailers used to carry everything from racing cars to portable corporate displays. The company has designed trailers for such companies as Ford Motor Co., General Motors, Nissan, and Toyota, which use the trailers to transport multimillion-dollar concept cars to trade shows.
We are seeking a motivated, qualified individual to join our company as a Procurement Specialist who will partner with suppliers, the sales team, engineers, and operations to ensure an optimal supply of raw materials for the manufacture of custom truck bodies and trailers while adhering to the highest quality standards.
This role requires a strong understanding of procurement processes, excellent communication skills, and the ability to build and maintain strong relationships with suppliers and internal stakeholders. All work will be performed in accordance with Company policies and procedures.
Responsibilities & Duties
Purchasing and delivery of raw materials, indirect supplies, equipment, services, and outsourced manufacturing for the activities of the facility through MRP, RFQs, and purchase orders
Partner with follow up with internal departments and team members to ensure timely and accurate fulfillment and delivery of production materials requirements
Evaluate supplier performance and work collaboratively to build and maintain strong relationships, resolving issues, and improving supply chain efficiency
Work to reduce material costs, volume discounts, and implement other cost-saving measures
Identify potential new suppliers, negotiate terms and pricing to secure the best possible deals for the Company
Manage site material supply and maintain the facility's inventory control database by identifying and resolving discrepancies
Maintain optimal inventory levels, balancing the need to meet production demand with cost effective inventory practices
Analyze procurement data, trends, and supplier performance to make informed decisions and recommendations for process improvements
Resolve material stock outs and losses by investigating problems, developing solutions, preparing reports, and making recommendations to management
Resolve order and invoice discrepancies, ensuring accuracy and completeness of financial records
Develop and maintain up-to- date knowledge of Company and competitor products and pricing, customer trends and feedback, new products, industry, and market changes
Advise leadership team of any potential concerns or improvements related to the procurement process
Perform other job-related duties as assigned
Requirements
High School Diploma or General Education Degree (GED)
Three (3) or more years of procurement experience, preferably in the manufacturing or automotive industry
Microsoft Office proficiency
MRP / ERP systems experience (SAP, Oracle, Job Boss, or similar)
Knowledge, Skill, & Abilities
Knowledge of manufacturing trailer or automotive industry
Strong negotiating and contract management skills
Ability to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders
Strong time management, organizational, and analytical skills
Detail orientated with the ability to prioritize tasks
Ability to work independently or in a team environment
Ability to read, write, and comprehend associated documents
Ability to understand and follow oral and written instructions
