Position: Global Controller

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Global Controller to play a pivotal role in our Finance and Administration function. As the Global Controller, you will be instrumental in managing and optimizing our financial systems and policies to provide high-quality, timely data and analysis that supports strategic decision-making.
You will work closely with the CFO, collaborating on departmental priorities and representing Finance in cross-organizational initiatives.
Key Responsibilities:
Financial Management:
-Lead, oversee, and, when necessary, perform various financial functions including general and international accounting, multi-entity consolidation, internal and external financial reporting, budgeting and analysis, and cash management.-Ensure the integrity of our financial systems and data, which serve as the foundation for both internal and external financial reporting.-Develop and maintain essential financial systems, policies, procedures, and internal controls.-Manage the annual external audit, ensuring compliance with US Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP), regulatory requirements, internal policies and procedures, donor stipulations, and municipal bond covenants.-Provide timely strategic decision support to the Leadership Team, Board of Directors, and other stakeholders.-Act as a key staff member alongside the CFO for the Finance Committee of the Board and assume the CFO's responsibilities when necessary.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
-Lead a Financial Team currently consisting of 15 staff members.-Supervise four direct reports responsible for general accounting and cash management, consolidation and financial reporting, financial planning and analysis, and international finance (field office oversight and support).-Utilize MIP for general accounting and Adaptive for management performance reporting.
Education & Experience:
-Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.-A minimum of 10 years of professional experience, including at least 5 years in a supervisory capacity.-Minimum of 5 years' experience as a Controller for an international NGO with multiple reporting entities, managing a consolidated annual budget exceeding $50 million, and operating US Government-funded programs in at least 10 countries.-Proficiency in consolidating financial data from multiple legal entities into a single set of financial statements.-An active CPA designation is preferred, with a minimum of 3 years' experience at a large regional or national CPA firm.-Experience working with various non-USG public donors, such as the EU and FCDO.-Familiarity with U.S. Government regulations.-Experience with MIP or similar accounting systems and database reporting applications like Adaptive.-Strong analytical, problem-solving, and presentation skills.-Exceptional ability to analyze and solve complex problems while managing multiple tasks under tight deadlines and competing priorities.-Demonstrated leadership skills, including recruiting, training, and staff development.-Effective communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial matters to non-financial professionals.-Strong written and verbal communication skills in English are essential, with fluency in French and/or Spanish considered a desirable asset.
