The Position: The Senior Manager, Electrical Engineering is responsible for and works specifically on development of automated driving systems, ADS, on the trailer to support L4/L5 autonomous heavy duty commercial trucks. Trailers will require the highest level of smart sensors, electrification, kinetic energy capture via E-axles combined with a powertrain, and object detection to support the autonomous driver.
Communication of the trailers real time health status of safety system components will communicate to the autonomous driver via automotive high-speed ethernet. The candidate must have experience with vehicle systems and components that use SAE J1939 protocol, automotive ethernet and have familiarity with ISO 26262, DOT/FMVSS regulation and ISO 11992 for heavy duty commercial vehicles.
This position leads the development team for the ADS ready trailer.

Responsibilities:

WHAT YOU’LL DO
 •  Guide development of MIL, SIL and HIL for ADS ready trailers
 •  Work directly with hardware provider of trailer central gateway.
 •  Work with hardware providers of Radar, Video and Lidar to integrate object detection data into the trailer databus.
 •  Work with OEM truck manufacturers to integrate Great Dane ADS technology with their vehicle.
 •  Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

YOUR SKILLS AND ABILITIES (REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS)
 •  Education: Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, Electrical Engineering Technology, or equivalent.
 •  Experience: 5 – 7 years of experience working in commercial vehicle or heavy duty commercial, agriculture or construction equipment.
 •  Skills: Knowledge of ADS technology.
 •  Proven track record working with a formal design process that interacts with multiple other departments and Project managers.
 •  Self-motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
 •  Ability to interact with representatives of other departments and companies and use product knowledge to provide accurate input.
 •  Ability to execute projects with minimal supervision and guidance.
 •  Setting own work goals after definite objectives are set by manager, referring only unusual cases to manager.
 •  Proficient in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
 •  Travel is generally 2 to 4 days per month.
