The University of Maryland Medical Center (UMMC) is a world-renowned tertiary and quaternary Advanced Heart Failure Center. The advanced heart failure team is a multidisciplinary service that supports patients with advanced cardiac disease is seeking a Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant, Nocturnist, to join its team.
It will also involve as-needed cross-coverage in collaboration with the cardiac fellow for the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit.
Job specifics:
The population includes patients post cardiac transplant, post ventricular assist device placement, pulmonary hypertension, cardiogenic shock or decompensated heart failure
Familiarity with invasive cardiac monitoring and arrhythmia management required
Hours are 7p to 7 a
Opportunities to be involved in research/quality improvement efforts
Will involve management of acute issues overnight - will collaborate with cardiac fellow or any specialty services needed
Documentation in EPIC of any acute change in condition
Will require night-time rounding on patients
Emphasis on communication with family members regarding changes in the patient’s condition
Family and patient education will be required
Communication with on-coming and off-service providers to ensure continuity of care and avoid complications associated with care transitions
