Overnight Certified Veterinary Technician to join our team!

5pm-4am OR 6pm-5am

*24-hour service offered for Emergencies Only*

Compensation:

$28-30/hr based on Experience

***$2,000 sign-on bonus!***

Golf Rose Animal Services is a full-service, 24-hour animal hospital. We welcome both emergency treatment cases as well as routine medical, surgical, and dental care. Our doctors have years of experience treating serious conditions and offering regular pet wellness care.

Veterinary Technician Credentialing desired, but not required.

(If not credentialed, the applicant must have hands-on veterinary assistant/technician experience, perferrably a student of a Vet Tech assosciate program, & have a desire for growth within the field).

Responsibilities:

Veterinary Technician Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include all aspects of patient care, including surgery prep and recovery, radiology, blood draws, cytology, dentistry (including dental radiology), administering medication and treatments as prescribed by the doctors, and client communication. Veterinary Technicians will also administer and monitor anesthesia, place IV catheters and perform subgingival scaling on dental patients. The ideal candidate will:

 •  Accurately perform medical math calculations including drug dosages and fluid rates.
 •  Be able to navigate conversations, even difficult ones, with clients and problem solve.
 •  Fulfill a variety of roles and be flexible and patient in your approach to all roles with excellent follow through.
 •  Be willing to help and willing to ask for help from the team when needed.
 •  Be respectful in your communication and be willing to provide and receive feedback regarding your role, operations and overall hospital and client workflow.

Physical Requirements:

 •  The veterinary technician must have the ability to stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, and climb as well as manipulate (lift, carry, move) up to 50 pounds and over 50 pounds with a coworker.
 •  The veterinary technician must be able to endure sitting, standing and walking on hard floor surfaces for extended periods of time.
 •  The veterinary technician must possess sufficient ambulatory skills to perform duties while in hospital environment.
 •  The veterinary technician must be able to work in noisy work conditions with sounds from animals and equipment that can be moderately high.
 •  The veterinary technician will be routinely exposed to a variety of pets that may bite or scratch, and on occasion, exposed to anesthesia, radiation, biological hazards, and medication/controlled substances.
 •  The veterinary technician must have good hand-eye coordination, arm-hand-finger dexterity with the ability to grasp and visual acuity to use a keyboard and operate equipment.

Qualifications:

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

 •  The veterinary technician must be proficient in a variety of skills ranging from but not limited to laboratory, pharmacy, radiology, surgery, dental and nursing skills.
 •  Ability to demonstrate patience and composure in stressful situations, and ability to handle a fast-paced environment.
 •  Ability to stay calm and efficient during a medical crisis.
 •  Ability to give SQ, IM and IV injections.
 •  Knowledge of usage, dosage, and common side-effects for commonly used prescription drugs and ability to readily explain them to the clients.
 •  Knowledge of the common anesthesia and recovery states and ability to alert veterinarians when symptoms change or when concerns arise with hospitalized patients.
 •  Ability to properly extubate, monitor temperature and recover a patient from anesthesia.
 •  The veterinary technician must have mental processes for reasoning, remembering, mathematics, and language ability (reading, writing, and speaking the English language) to perform the duties proficiently.
 •  The veterinary technician must be confident around pets and have an understanding of fear free principles.
