JOB SUMMARY

The Construction Superintendent embraces SoLa’s mission and is passionate about promoting SoLa’s short and long-term goals. The ADU Construction Superintendent is responsible for overseeing the construction of Accessory Dwelling Units (ADUs) and ensuring that projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This role requires a deep understanding of construction methodologies, the ability to manage a team of tradespeople and subcontractors, and strong communication and problem-solving skills. The ideal candidate will have a background in construction management, a solid understanding of building codes and regulations, and experience in overseeing the construction of residential or multi-family projects.
This is a hands-on position that requires a high level of attention to detail and the ability to work in a high-performing, deadline-driven environment.

Requirements

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

Schedule subcontractors, consultants, and vendors in a critical path to ensure timely completion;
Perform quality control duties and responsibilities specific to the work being performed;
Ensure that subcontractors are fully executing and complying with their contracted scope of work;
Coordinate required inspections with local jurisdictions;
Identify subcontractor non-compliance with safety, health, and environmental quality standards; issue notices of non-compliance;
Identify conflicts in construction progress and communicate them to the project team for resolution;
Maintain a daily log of activities on the jobsite using Procore software;
Walk all units on the project daily to monitor activities and assist in future planning;
Preside over weekly subcontractor meetings designed to coordinate the work;
Ensure that the job site is always kept in a clean and organized manner;
Perform job progress and completion punch list identification and completion.

Complete other projects and tasks as assigned

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE

Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management, Architecture or related field preferred;
Minimum 5 years construction project experience in the field required;
Excellent knowledge of inspection sequencing required;
Thorough knowledge of construction techniques and the ability to derive the most efficient method of completing tasks;
Must be able to read, understand and interpret construction documents, drawings, specifications, scopes of work and project schedules for constructability and conflict reviews specific to Multifamily construction;
Extensive knowledge of construction materials and project phasing;
Familiarity with codes, plan check, and permitting process;
SKILLS & ABILITIES

Fluent in English and Spanish preferred;
Proficient in Excel, Procore, AutoCAD, Revit, and project scheduling programs;
Working Knowledge of OSHA regulations and accepted Safe Work practices for the Construction Industry

Well-developed time management skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities

Highly organized, resourceful, proactive, creative, detail-oriented, and critical thinking skills required; willingness and ability to learn quickly and on-the-fly

Must have excellent management, communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills with a strong focus on meeting construction schedules & budgets

Ability to exercise discretion and independent judgment

Ability to present information in a concise and easily understood manner
