RESPONSIBILITIES
Financial
• Establishes and follows sound accounting practices in consultation with the Board Finance Committee and Principal.
• Supports the Business Manager and collaborates with the Board Finance Committee to prepare the capital budget.
• Supports the Business Manager and works with the Staff, Department Chairs, and Administration to establish the annual operating budget.
• Prepares monthly financial reports, budget variances, and cash flow projections for both capital and operating accounts for the Board of Trustees and Principal.
• Prepares capital and operating forecasts for financial decision-making.
• Regularly meets with Department Chairs/Heads of Offices regarding budget status.
• Manages the bank relationship for account management and financial issue resolution.
• Oversees bookkeeping and general ledger functions including payables, receivables, revenue, and expenses.
• Maintains operational and financial records for the school.
• Ensures compliance with federal, state, and local tax laws and regulations.
• Manages payroll, salaries, and benefits payments.
• Monitors cash flow and participates in year-end financial record closure.
• Works with the Board Treasurer to complete the annual audit and prepares and files the annual 990 Report.
• Acts as a member of the Tuition Assistance Committee and monitors tuition accounts, reporting status to the Business Manager.
• Communicates financial holds to relevant school personnel for re-enrollment or transcript release.
• Assists in financial stewardship and long-range planning efforts.
Collaborates with advancement on capital campaign pledge payment collection.
Human Resources - As needed, assist the Business Manager in the following areas:
• On-boarding new employees, ensures all employment documentation reviewed with and collected from new employee
• Administering salary and benefit policies
• Benefits administration for all insurance and benefits packages
• Vendor relations for all benefit providers
• Contract administration with school staff
• Knowledgeable and supportive in word and action of the school's mission, vision and educational philosophy
• Implement mission of the school through witness
• Represent the school in a positive way on and off the school campus
QUALIFICATIONS
• A bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or a related field
• 2+ years of Accounting/Bookkeeping experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
• Experience in general business management
• Advanced computer software skills in Excel and Quick Books to ensure accurate recordkeeping.
• Ability to manage and manipulate large database to provide accurate reports and assessment of financial trend, as well as ad hoc reporting requests.
• Knowledge of accounting and record keeping principles and practices.
• Knowledge of cash flow management.
• Knowledge and ability in budgetary principles
• Strong interpersonal skills to build relationships and trust.
• Ability to maintain accurate collection and deposit records.
• Ability to communicate and offer assistance in regard to finances and recordkeeping, as needed.
• Strong interpersonal skills to work with small groups of volunteers and interact with diverse populations.
• Ability to maintain strict confidentiality
