MANUFACTURING ENGINEER
COMPANY INFORMATION:
• Equipment manufacturer in the Northwest suburbs is expanding and is hiring for a Manufacturing Engineer reporting to the Engineering Manager
• Mid-sized entrepreneurial organization that plans to double in size in the next 5 years
• MUST HAVE METAL FABRICATION, AUTOMOTIVE OR WELDING OR OTHER CLOSELY RELATED MANUFACTURING EXPERIENCE

JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Work with the Engineering Manager and Operations teams to improve output for the facility through engineering changes, upgrades, turnarounds and overall improvement of the engineering department
• Take ownership of production, assembly, tooling, test & calibration where required
• Develop and maintain manufacturing methods and create process routings
• Design and build / procure necessary tooling and finishing within budgets
• Conduct cost / benefit analysis for changes to processes and/or equipment
• Drive safety projects
• Ensure processes contribute to a safe work environment
• Identify and reduce product quality issues caused by process variation
• Lead high impact process and quality improvement projects yielding significant reduction in defects and increased productivity
• Utilize lean-manufacturing principles and participate in action workouts to improve process capability, reduce overall costs and increase capacity
• Follow LEAN principles to improve processes, increase efficiencies and decrease downtime
• Upgrade the tool room as needed
• Work closely with manufacturing department to develop, coordinate, and provide technical training and blueprints for employees.
• Provide technical support for manufacturing personnel to troubleshoot and resolve mechanical bottlenecks
REQUIREMENTS:
• BS in Engineering is required, preferably Mechanical, Industrial or related
• 3 7+ years experience in project engineering, manufacturing engineering, or related engineering roles
• Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six-Sigma is required; prefer certifications
• Experience with Design preferred
• Experience with SolidWorks, Pro/Engineer and/or other 3D CAD modeling software is a plus
• Must have experience with manufacturing, prefer experience metals, aerospace, automotive, equipment, punch presses, laser cutting, metal fabrication, welding, forging, die cutting and related environments preferred
• Experience with PFMEA, time studies, new equipment, proposals, and related
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
