About Our Client
My client is a mid-sized luxury automotive manufacturing organization with a star studded client base! They're located in the Northern Suburbs of Chicago, and are currently experiencing an influx in both revenue and resources, which is why they're currently looking to add a Controller to their Accounting team.
They have two locations in IL, one focusing more on Manufacturing, and one focusing more Assembly and Shipping - this role will sit out of the Manufacturing location.
The Controller will report directly into the Ownership group, and will have a large impact on the future growth of the organization, and will have a seat at the table when it comes to decision making.
Job Description
• Manage and oversee all aspects of inventory accounting, including inventory valuation, cost of goods sold (COGS) analysis, and inventory reconciliation.
• Develop and implement inventory control procedures to optimize inventory levels, minimize carrying costs, and ensure accuracy in inventory records.
• Conduct regular inventory audits to verify physical inventory counts and reconcile any discrepancies.
• Lead the cost accounting function, including standard cost development, variance analysis, and cost allocation.
• Collaborate with cross-functional teams to analyze product costs, pricing strategies, and profitability by product line.
• Implement and maintain internal controls to safeguard inventory assets and ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
• Prepare accurate and timely financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements, with a focus on inventory and cost-related accounts.
• Coordinate month, quarter, and year-end closing processes, including preparation of journal entries, account reconciliations, and financial reporting.
• Coordinate and oversee the annual external audit process, including the preparation of audit schedules and responding to auditor inquiries related to inventory and cost accounting.
• Stay abreast of changes in accounting standards, regulations, and industry trends related to inventory and cost accounting, and ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations.
• Lead and develop a high-performing accounting team, providing guidance, support, and professional development opportunities in inventory and cost accounting.

The Successful Applicant
• Bachelor's degree in Accounting; CPA certification preferred.
• 7+ years of progressive experience in accounting or finance, with a focus on inventory and cost accounting within the manufacturing industry.
• Extensive knowledge of inventory valuation methods, cost accounting principles, and internal control procedures.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex inventory and cost data and make sound business decisions.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate inventory and cost-related information to non-financial stakeholders.
• Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel and accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, SAP, Oracle).
