Junior Designer / Intern Architect
Frank Shirley Architects | Cambridge | careerpage.co |
Frank Shirley Architects specializes in high-end residential architecture for discerning clients. We believe that beauty in architecture springs from an imaginative spirit, dedication to craft, and attention to detail, and can only be realized through exceptional project management.
Our work is informed by our deep appreciation for the craft imbued in historic properties. We have good clients and challenging projects. Our work includes renovations, restorations, additions, interior architecture, and new construction. We are located in the heart of Central Square, in Cambridge, MA, a one-minute walk from the Red Line and lots of coffeehouses.
Our practice has projects throughout New England.
We are seeking to hire a junior designer/ intern architect who will become an integral member of our team to take on an expanding role in our growing firm. Ideal candidates will have 1-5 years’ relevant experience and will be looking to increase their expertise in fine home design and craft.
The new team member will be involved in all areas of design. Responsibilities will include zoning and code research, schematic design, rendering and graphic production, product specification, and construction document preparation. Ideal candidates will be interested in expanding their responsibilities as their experience grows and be self-motivated, able to work through problems independently, and have a strong eye for detail.
An understanding of wood frame construction is valued, as are good freehand drawing skills and an appreciation for the myriad architectural styles that have evolved in the United States. Proficiency in Vectorworks, Sketchup, and Adobe Suite a plus.
Candidates should be prepared to work in person.
