The Blinc Group—the leading designer, developer, and supplier of premium vaping hardware to the legal cannabis industry—has an opening for a Controller to take charge of the company’s financial operations reporting to the company’s Chief Financial Officer.
Description:
The Blinc Group’s Controller will be primarily responsible for oversight of the key accounting and finance functions of the company directly supporting the company’s Chief Financial Officer in all financial matters. An effective controller has a strong knowledge of accounting and finance principles and how they relate to business operations.
The ideal professional should have a high attention to detail, be reliable, and be able to carry out tasks autonomously and collaboratively.
Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
Responsible for oversight of all aspects of the company’s accounting functions
Oversee and manage the company’s staff accountant’s work, including but not limited to:
Reconciliation of cash and balance sheet accounts
Maintenance of weekly, monthly, and quarterly cashflow forecasts
Oversee and facilitate day-to-day matters including accounts receivable (AR), accounts payable (AP), and maintenance of the general ledger
Prepare preliminary and final monthly financial statements
Work with an outside audit firm on the company’s annual review
Take the lead on all tax and compliance-related matters
Manage all required tax and compliance-related filings and reports
Work with an external accounting firm on tax preparation and related tax filings; and the company’s annual review
Maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation and schedules
Maintain and update the company’s cap table
Update and maintain Accounting and Finance Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)
Maintain and update government filings
Maintain stock and warrant certificates
Assist in preparing and reviewing the monthly/annual budgets, LRPs, cash flows, and forecasts
Engage with divisional/functional managers to review budget vs. actuals to ensure the company’s expenses are in line with the budget
Perform monthly variance analysis
Hold monthly meetings with the Executive Team to track and forecast expenses
Review weekly, monthly, and quarterly cash flow projections with the CFO and CEO
Support the CFO in:
Preparing presentations for the company’s Investors, Board of Directors, and Leadership Team
Special/strategic projects in conjunction with the CFO and CEO
Generation and creation of reports and financial dashboards critical for business analysis
Establishing and monitoring proper corporate governance policies
Support implementation of new financial projects/software/tools, as requested
Play a key role in the risk management function of the company
Maintain a working knowledge of the accounting for securities as they relate to a privately held company
Take the lead on non-employee insurance matters
Requirements
Required software experience & skills:
Proven experience as a Controller or similar position
Expertise with QuickBooks Online
Proficiency with Asana (or similar project management tools)
Well-organized with the ability to prioritize
Strong written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills
Attention to detail and problem-solving ability
Excellent knowledge of accounting and financial processes (budgeting, financial disclosure, reporting etc.)
Understanding of data analysis and forecasting
Experience with cash management and risk assessment
Expertise with Microsoft Excel and Word; G-Suite (Gmail, Google Sheets, etc.)
A solid knowledge of GAAP
CPA certification is a plus, but not required
