Job Summary
Lead Kennametal's external manufacturing sourcing category. This position involves analyzing spend data and developing and implementing strategic sourcing strategies, negotiating contracts, and driving cost savings initiatives. The Manager of Commodities contribute to optimizing procurement processes, managing risks, and delivering value in external manufacturing categories globally.
Key Job Responsibilities
• Supports the development, implementation, and governance of sourcing strategies for the external manufacturing sourcing category in North America; including supplier selection, supplier relationship development, supplier performance optimization, pricing and contract negotiations, leveraging sourcing tools to secure optimum value, understanding and mitigating supply chain risk, etc.
• Experience with external manufacturing sourcing projects preferred.
• Communicates and ensures proper governance of the corporate:wide Sourcing strategy.
• Liaise with key stakeholders in Business Units, RD and E and others as determined to coordinate business requirements and ensure a stable supply chain while delivering optimum value.
• Liaise with regional sourcing groups (Americas, EMEA, Asia Pacific, Latin America and India) to understand local requirements and ensure proper support as needed.
• Key Metrics and Outcomes include: Ethics, Cost Reduction, DPO, Touchless Procurement, Supplier On:Time Delivery and Quality, Supplier Lead Time Reduction, Inflation Mitigation
• Develops knowledge and understanding of cost drivers and manufacturing processes related to external manufacturing and leverages this knowledge to optimize value for Kennametal
• Support strategic initiatives and projects as required by the business
• Drives to develop and understand internal stakeholder requirements and uses this information to assist in recommendation of sourcing decisions.
• Supports the designing, planning, and managing projects to deliver value:added solutions within defined time and cost parameters
Requirements
• Education: Bachelor's Degree (RQ) in Supply Chain, Business, or Engineering; MBA (PF)
• Experience: 3+ years in Strategic Sourcing (RQ) with 3+ years of Global Strategic Sourcing (PF).
• Maintains the highest level of integrity, ethics commitment to safety and compliance to KMT's code of conduct; role models these behaviors for suppliers.
• Proven experience in leading and developing the sourcing capabilities of the team, comfortable leading through influence, skilled in all forms of communication.
• Demonstrates an understanding of products, internal business processes, external customer segments, strategic direction and business objectives. Aligns business objectives and develops sources of supply based on strategic direction.
• Demonstrates an understanding of internal business processes, external customer segments, strategic direction and business objectives. Aligns business objectives and develops sources of supply based on strategic direction.
• Understands organization of internal customer groups, key users and characteristics of these customers. Drives to understand customer requirements and uses this information as an input into sourcing decisions. Develops and fosters mutually beneficial customer relationships.
