Responsibilities:

 •  Define and implement the strategy for Ascend’s data systems, platforms, and integration across the organization
 •  Drive the implementation and optimization of current data tools and systems
 •  Deeply understand the use case and applications for data systems at Ascend, both from the school and network perspectives
 •  Oversee data support, ensuring that Ascend staff have access to critical data across applications
 •  Act as a liaison to other divisions within Ascend, partnering with them to achieve their objectives by supporting their data and analytics needs
 •  Oversee the creation and maintenance thoughtful Tableau dashboards, iterating based on feedback from key stakeholders
 •  Oversee and contribute to the expansion of Ascend’s data stack in context of its data strategy, including its data warehouse, ELT pipeline, and reporting capabilities
 •  Build and manage a Data Analytics team to further develop the data and analytic capabilities of the Ascend network of schools

Qualifications:

 •  7+ years of combined relevant work experience leading an analytics team within an academic environment
 •  Bachelor’s degree required, preferably in a technical field
 •  A successful applicant will have the following traits:
 •  Advanced knowledge of SQL to create, edit, and review complex queries
 •  Expert knowledge of Microsoft Excel and Google Sheets
 •  Significant experience with academic platforms, especially with Infinite Campus, Illuminate Education, and Clever
 •  Significant experience creating and publishing Tableau dashboards
 •  Knowledge of Python or R for data analysis
 •  Familiarity with data warehousing and ELT processes
 •  Incredibly high bar and meticulous attention to detail
 •  Experience and demonstrated ability to collaborate across teams
 •  Excellent written and oral communications skills

Preferred skills, but not required
 •  Experience managing analysts or working on an analytics team
 •  Familiarity with GitHub and reviewing code

Compensation

The salary range for this position is $140,000-$180,000. Several factors such as candidate's work experience, education/training, job-related skills, internal peer equity, as well as market and business considerations may influence base pay offered.
This salary range is reflective of a position based in New York City.
