We are in the process of hiring a Senior Accountant for a successful financial services company, located in Baltimore, Maryland. The Senior Accountant will be tasked with a variety of responsibilities, including the preparation of financial reports and ensuring their accuracy, maintaining the general ledger, and communicating effectively with other units and management.

Responsibilities:

 •  Ensure accurate recording of transactions in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles
 •  Prepare monthly journal entries to accurately record accounting transactions and ensure that these entries have proper backup to substantiate the entry
 •  Conduct research and analysis of P& L budget to actual variances and analyze P& L trends
 •  Provide financial analysis and interpretation to senior management, identifying trends, risks, and opportunities
 •  Collaborate with other departments to gather financial data and insights to facilitate cross-functional decision-making
 •  Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial operations
 •  Address inquiries and provide explanations regarding financial matters to internal and external parties
 •  Collaborate with external auditors to facilitate the annual audit process
 •  Reconcile assigned balance sheet accounts monthly and resolve any reconciling items on a timely basis
 •  Support the Accounting Manager in developing automated SOX controls, maintaining SOX compliance, and holding control owners accountable
 •  Assist with variable compensation calculations, accruals, plan design, and approval process
 •  Maintain and continuously develop understanding of the company's tech stack, data sources and flows
 •  Optimize the use of the software and tools the company has purchased to increase automation & efficiency
 •  Ensure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and annual financial reporting
 •  Minimum of three years of accounting experience
 •  Proficiency in Account Reconciliation, Balance Sheet Reconciliation, and Bank Reconciliations
 •  Extensive knowledge of General Ledger maintenance and Journal Entries
 •  Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is essential
 •  Experience with Month End Close procedures
 •  Familiarity with NetSuite accounting software
 •  Knowledge of Sarbanes Oxley regulations and compliance
 •  Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
 •  Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
 •  Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
 •  Detail-oriented with high standards for accuracy and precision
 •  Ability to work independently and as part of a team
 •  Ability to handle multiple tasks and meet tight deadlines
 •  Certification as a Certified Public Accountant is a plus.
